This gun is ridiculously fun and useful. I always recommend it in my builds, but I never fully explained why, so here it is :)

Until Its Return is a rapid fire strand shotgun. It is craftable and dropped from the Sonar Station in the HELM, under the Deep Weapon Focusing tab. Direct Focusing will cost 4 Deep Engrams and 3000 glimmer. You can also earn it from Salvage and Deep Dive activities that can be launched from the HELM.
This gun is unique due to it being the only craftable strand rapid fire frame shotgun with cascade point. Rapid Fire frame shotguns offer ease of use that other special weapons do not have. Snipers require range and precision to be effective, and fusion rifles can be finnicky with charge times. Shotguns are point and click, only requiring close range which can be accomplished through the many sources of damage resist and healing we now have. Until its Return, unlike the Ikelos shotgun also rolls with great quality of life perks in the 3rd slot, beating it out when it comes to dps preparedness.
There is one main roll for PVE that I will discuss today.
Roll one uses Smallbore, Tactical Mag, Auto Loading Holster or Overflow, and Cascade Point. Smallbore and tactical mag increases range and stability, and bring up the mag size to 8. Auto Loading Holster refills the gun after 2.5 seconds of being stowed. Overflow overflows the magazine to 16 when picking up special or heavy ammo. If you’re nervous about not having ammo around when dps phase begins, I recommend using Auto Loading Holster. Cascade Points activates after hitting precision hits or landing kills on enemies with other weapons. Once triggered, a Cascade Point Ready buff will appear on the hud, and switching to Until its Return will buff its fire rate from 140 rpm to 233 rpm for 2.5 seconds. This bump increases the one mag dps from 24,000 to 40,000, ignoring direct buffs to damage. This roll acts as a mini fourth horseman, and melts champions with no effort. It can also be used in damage rotations for raid bosses like Rhulk.
If you’re ever thinking about using Fourth Horseman just don’t. This gun may not have the 6 digit burst dps that it does, but it can avoid length reloads, and goes well in burst damage rotations. Also, it doesn’t kick you in the face every time you pull the trigger. Until Its Return is also Strand, meaning that it can spawn Threadlings with the Thread of Rebirth fragment.
I hope this brief video explanation helped you out. Thank you for watching, and happy farming!
