You won’t be able to make this recipe without dates, however, the sauce still tastes great over a regular sponge.

Ingredients (Serves 3 | Prep time: 25m | Cooking time: 25m | 612 calories & 27g fat p/serving):
- 90g Dates
- ½ tsp Vanilla extract
- 90g Self raising flour
- ½ tsp Bicarbonate of soda
- 1 Large egg
- 60g Butter
- 75g Demerara sugar
- 1 ½ tbsp Treacle
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 35g Muscovado sugar
- 50ml Double cream
- ½ tbsp Brandy
