Tips for hiking Mt. Elbert, the tallest mountain in Colorado and in the lower 48.
14,433 elevation
This hike is located near Leadville, Colorado.
12.6 miles long and it took us a little under 7 hours to complete.
Recommendations:
1) Start early! You want to summit prior to 12 pm.
2) Wear hiking boots or trail running shoes - it gets slippery coming down because of the loose rock.
3) Take lots of water, food (ideally with carbs) and sugar.
4) Camp the night before. Great dispersed camping right outside the trailhead.
