Lignum Vitae Carvers Mallet: From Bowling Ball to Beautiful Tool

Lignum Vitae is becoming increasingly rare and valuable. It's extremely stable and a favourite among woodturners.

I've wanted to make a cavers mallet for a long time, and given the shape of the balls, it's difficult to make anything other than a mallet from them. I tried to keep the bowl's ball inserts intact to add to the finished piece.

Because of the density of the Lignum, they make fantastic woodworking mallets that can withstand a lot of abuse.
