This is for those who are first-timers when it comes to auditions for musical theatre in high school or middle school.
ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE -- as of 2015 -- I have performed in two middle school musicals, four high school musicals, two short plays and I have written and directed a short play (auditioned actors). I have taken voice lessons for 9 years and have spent 7 years in drama class, band and jazz band for both saxophone and clarinet. I have been doing improvisational theatre/comedy for 8 years, and I was part of a team that won out of 14 teams and received the chance to go to Canada's capital to compete in an improvisational theatre competion nation-wide. I have also been in auditioned vocal jazz for 4 years, an auditioned chamber choir for 2 years and a professional choir for 2 years. However, I am not pursing musical theatre at the university level, so remember, these tips are really just for middle school and high school musical theatre.
