Oil painting on primed vs. unprimed cardboard! Would like to paint on cardboard instead of a canvas to save money or to make recycled art? Do you have to prime the cardboard with gesso first or can you paint straight onto cardboard with oils without priming it? Let's test it!
I'm painting a similar image with the same colors using the same oil paints on the same type of cardboard, but one piece is primed with gesso and the other one is not. How do you feel about painting on unprimed cardboard with oils after seeing the results?
