Mountain Equipment asked me to show folks what I take alpine climbing. It's a personal choice, but this is generally what I use for single push/multi-day climbing in the mountains - both summer and winter.
I've taken a combination of this kit on routes in Alaska, Patagonia, the Canadian Rockies, the Alps.. and elsewhere. I adjust the gear depending on the route, partners, conditions, weather, the expected difficulty and number of days it might take...
Of course, every route is different and this is only a guide. For example, some routes naturally lend themselves to double ropes ( e.g. 2 x 8mm ropes). My choices have come from many years alpine climbing, trying different clothes, kit, systems and set-ups. It's what usually works for me, but see for yourself.
