Some Trees Are Considered Sacred In India – Why?
In India, several trees are venerated, the most important among them being the Peepal and Audmbar trees. These trees, which are generally propagated from seeds carried by birds, have been worshipped for thousands of years. The Audumbar tree is associated with Lord Dattatreya. These trees generate oxygen and are vital for maintaining the ecological balance. Associating them with Hindu deities was a way of ensuring that they would not be cut or destroyed.
