Thoth is one of the most significant deities in ancient Egyptian mythology, revered as the god of wisdom, writing, science, and magic. He was often depicted as a man with the head of an ibis, a sacred bird in Egyptian culture, or sometimes as a baboon.
Thoth is credited with inventing writing and is believed to be the author of the Book of the Dead, a guide for the deceased in the afterlife.
The Greeks identified Thoth with their god Hermes and termed him, "Hermes Trismegistus" which means, “Thoth, the thrice great” .
