Background: The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) is an American multinational commercial broadcast television network that is a flagship property of Walt Disney Television. Launched in 1927 as the NBC-operated radio network NBC Blue Network, and after it became an independent radio network in 1945, it extended its operations to television in 1948, following in the footsteps of CBS and NBC. ABC has eight owned-and-operated and over 232 affiliated television stations throughout the United States and its territories. Some ABC-affiliated stations can also be seen in Canada via pay-television providers. The Company did not have a Television on-screen logo until 1948.
