* I am not sponsored by either brand, I do use Calura color in my salon as my professional choice and have recently switched to the Calura Gloss from using SEQ for years. I love both!)
Alright guys! It’s here. The comparison SIDE BY SIDE. Calura Gloss vs. the OG Redken SEQ Gloss.
**For you PROS**
Key similarities:
3 /4 swatches looked quite similar.
The shine is on point for both brands.
Each bottle comes with 2 fl oz.
Both brands have TWO developer options (bottle or brush application) and CLEAR additive for customization.
They are both DEMI permanent. They do not lift natural or virgin hair.
The key differences:
CONSISTENCY! Calura Gloss is hands down thicker on its own making a precise pour much easier.
Calura Gloss smells like magical unicorn breath. No joke. I wasn’t surprised because their cream color line smells amazing too. Redken has little to no scent. (Could be a positive for some sensitive hairstylists or clients)
Calura is slightly less $ per bottle. (Professionals can access this pricing for their own comparisons)
Calura is both acidic and alkaline while processing which helps lift the cuticle slightly while simultaneously closing for locked in color.
Redken is acidic.
Calura can process in 3-10 mins for toning whereas Redken recommends the full 25 minutes.
BIGGEST for me is this! Calura Gloss’s swatch book contains each colors percentage in each series. For example: Neutrals contain 33% blue, 33% red and 33% yellow. The AI (12) series is 75% blue 25% violet. And so forth. This is extremely helpful when formulating for the exact results you want.
