It is a paradox to think that one can find peace and solace at Golgotha, a place of sorrow. The writer of this hymn paints a picture of the cross of Christ as a balm where they found healing and yet this is a place where Christ suffered a horrendous pain to the point of sweating blood. Yes, out of that blood came salvation for humanity. As the world begins to reflet on the crusfixtion, it is my prayer that we too may look at our personal misery as a source of our share in the suffering of Christ so we can gain deeper understanding into our salvation.
