According to Maruti Suzuki, the Indian Ertiga was designed specifically for Indian consumers,[4][5] unlike the other Maruti models which were designed for the global market. Maruti has marketed it as a "Life Utility Vehicle".[6] 11,000 of these vehicles were ordered in India within five days.
In India, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga[9] MPV is available in both the alternatives of diesel and petrol variants. Though both of these engines were also seen doing duties earlier in various models, but this time they are tweaked and retuned to get more out of them, as now they need to bear more burden due to its stretched platform and provide its consumers with some fitting performance figures.
The petrol-run 1.4L power train is K14B; the advanced K-series motor with variable valve timing (VVT) that weights light resulting in better mileage figures. The power train with 1372cc displacement delivers a peak power of 95 PS at 6000 rpm along with a peak torque of 130 Nm at the rate of 4000 rpm.
In June 2013, Maruti Suzuki added its Ertiga models[10] with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). The Ertiga LXi and VXi have original factory converter kit and are provided with i-GPI (intelligent Gas Port Injection) which Maruti Suzuki claimed will achieve 22.8 kilometers of one-liter-premium-equivalent. Previously Maruti Suzuki has CNG models for Alto, Wagon R, Eeco, SX4 and Estilo.
Maruti Suzuki has launched the new 2016 Ertiga in India on 16 October 2015 at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-Delhi) going up to Rs 9.25 lakh (ex-Delhi) for the top spec SHVS variant. The new Ertiga is the second car to get the SHVS hybrid diesel engine after the Ciaz Hybrid. The 1.3-litre DDiS 200 SHVS Diesel Engine in the Ertiga returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.52kmpl which is an 18 per cent rise when compared to the standard 1.3-litre DDiS Ertiga.
The SHVS powered Ertiga will get an engine start/stop button, torque assist, brake energy regeneration and gear shift indicatorsIn addition to the SHVS diesel, the Ertiga will also come with a 1.4-litre K14B VVT petrol engine returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 17.5kmpl, an improvement by 9 per cent over the previous petrol motor. Both the diesel and petrol engine gets 5-speed manual transmissions while there is an optional automatic transmission that will be available in the VXi trim only in Indian Market.
The new Ertiga gets a START/STOP Button, New 15" alloy wheel set, SmartPlay infotainment system with features like TFT touch screen display, integrated reverse parking camera with sensors, bluetooth, voice command and navigation system. Compatible smartphones can be connected through the MirrorLink software making the smartphone features accessible on the infotainment display; but these are currently available in Top of the line ZXi+ & ZDi+ trims in Indian market.
