So let me tell you a little story..
This is the Bracelet Scam. The gentleman here wanted to get money from me, he's going to do this by first luring me in with polite and friendly conversation. Sometimes they'll ask you a question other times they will give you a compliment to pique your interest and engage with you.
Once he's established this impromptu acquaintanceship he'll then offer you a bracelet, seemingly for free in and in good faith.
If you put it on or accept it, they'll then demand that you pay them for it.
I've seen this method of getting money from people quite a lot here in Madrid, which is a shame.
Now usually the interaction is pretty harmless, they won't likely pursue you or harass you and most of them are just looking for money. They'll hang around places of tourism, this is directly outside Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid Spain but I have also seen them at Plaza Mayor.
My advice is to not engage and they likely won't bother you any further.
Anyway, here's how it played out for me.
