Highlights from game four of the 1997 NHL Eastern Conference Semifinals between third seed Philadelphia Flyers and fifth seeded New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The game aired on ESPN with Gary Thorne and Bill Clement commentating.
The Flyers lead for most of the game, with Mikael Renberg scoring a power play goal just over seven minutes into the contest after a bit of a review from referee Kerry Fraser. New York's Esa Tikkanen tied it early in the third, and with time winding down, the game appeared that the next goal could be the winner.
Enter unlikely hero John Druce. Druce's goal broke the 1-1 tie with three minutes remaining. However, only sixty five seconds after Druce's goal, Brian Leetch re-tied the game for the Rangers. The game seemed to be headed to an overtime.
After a bit of foreshadowing (3:33), Eric Lindros took matters into his own hands, back handing a shot past Rangers goalie Mike Richter with seven seconds to go in regulation, shocking the New York crowd and moving Philadelphia within one game of a Stanley Cup Final berth.
