This is a response to arniepranker, and to any other prankster who may have given second thought to uploading calls that do not meet their potential because of concerns of how other pranksters will judge the work.
Feedback is nice. Even when feedback is critical, it can be appreciated when the replies of critics are constructive and tactful rather than destructive and mean-spirited.
The (few) jerks who maliciously slam pranksters for uploading calls that are the least bit lacking in laughs fall into one of two categories: They are people who do not make original calls themselves, or; they are pranksters who lie, pretending that every call they have ever done turned out as an instant classic.
Those who have been doing prank calls for any fair amount of time understand that not every call turns out great, and the outcome of how well a prank call turns out often has little to do with how well the prankster uses soundboards. If the victim one rings up happens to be boring, has no sense of humor, or has nothing interesting to say, even the best prankster will have a hard time squeezing a funny call out of him/her.
Case in point: One reason why Duncan is so revered is because he always gave funny responses in spite of how skilled the prankster on the other end of the line was. Duncan was to prank callers what Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart were to green or over-pushed wrestlers: He worked with everyone well enough to ensure stellar entertainment.
Listening to the recording that started it all (Deacon Frost calls Duncan), it's crystal clear that Duncan's responses had a lot more to do with the hilarity of the recording than Webaholic's use of the Deacon Frost soundboard. The recording would have been overlooked in its time and forgotten by now if Duncan gave very boring replies (i.e. "I think yew got the wrong number, bud. I don't know yew. Bye!").
Rejection is a normal part of life for virtually everyone, prank callers included. It's up to the prankster to decide whether to share less than stellar pranks, edit out their unfunny parts, or do away with them altogether. However, it bears repeating that only delusional jerks or boastful liars tear pranksters down for uploading calls that don't measure up to their standards of hilarity.
Haters gonna hate, so to hell with 'em.
