Save flowers after they are done blooming by drying them with flower silica crystals. The crystals will remove the moisture from the petals but keep the 3-d shape unlike pressing flowers to preserve them. This flower was a Minerva amaryllis grown inside under full spectrum LED grow lights. Amaryllis flowers originated in tropical and sub tropical regions of the world such as South Africa, the Caribbean and South America.They do not require the same chilling to simulate winter dormancy like other perennial flowers such as tulips, iris, crocus, and daffodils. Instead amaryllis prefer a few months of cool and dry dormancy before reblooming. Indoor force flowering is easy and can be done all year round next to a window or under artificial lights.

During their flower period each bulb produces up to 2 flowering stalks and multiple leaves. Each flowering stalk can produce 2-12 flowers sometimes reaching sizes or 6-8 inches across. Overall plant height can be anywhere between six inches to 2 feet tall.

Grown in a 3 gallon fabric smart pot which drains water much better than conventional containers. Amaryllis and Hippeastrum care is simple, they do not like the soil to be soaking wet and do best in slightly drier conditions. Mini amaryllis under artificial LED, fluorescent, metal halide or high pressure sodium lights can flower in just 3-4 weeks.
