SAVE this to avoid or improve ptosis ⤵️
Iatrogenic eyelid ptosis is rare, but a reality
Iatrogenic = caused by a medical treatment, like Botox💉
Eyelid ptosis = lash line sits too far past colored part of eye 👁
It can result from improper placement 🫠
Or if you don't follow after-care instructions (like getting a massage 💆♀️ right after Botox)
To avoid ptosis, the outside frown muscle (lateral corrugator) should be injected superficially
‼️ To reduce your risk:
- Ensure your injector is experienced
- Follow your injector's after-care instructions
IF it happens:
✔️ Botox above the lash line works on a different muscle to help raise the lid (pretarsal orbicularis oculi)
✔️ Eye drops like Upneeq work on an even different muscle to help raise the lid (Mueller's muscle)
✔️ You have to wait until it fully wears off
