Darren Merriman, 40, (left) was jailed for life today for the 'barbaric' murder of Elizabeth Merriman (right, with Darren Merriman) at their home in Newhey, Rochdale (inset). Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court heard that Ms Merriman, 39, was stabbed multiple times in a 'frenzied attack' in their bedroom on October 22 last year. The couple had been together for 16 years but were experiencing relationship problems in the months leading up to her death.
