(7 Jun 2019) A huge floating crane was placed in the heart of Budapest on Friday to help raise a sunken tour boat from the bed of the Danube River.
The 'Adam Clark' crane was positioned near the Margit Bridge, but before it can be used wire harnesses have to be attached to the wreck and full preparations may take at least another day or two.
Footage from onboard the 1,000-ton vessel, which can lift 200 tons, showed its huge scale.
Hungarian authorities are under pressure to raise the Hableany (meaning Mermaid in Hungarian), which sank after it was struck by a river cruise ship, the Viking Sigyn, on the evening of 29 May during heavy rain.
The death toll from the collision stood at 18 South Korean tourists and a Hungarian crewman, with nine people still missing and seven South Koreans rescued.
