Premier Doug Ford has declared a state of emergency for Ontario due to the coronavirus outbreak.
34:35 Effective immediately, recreation centres, private schools, daycares, bars, restaurants, theatres, concert venues will close until March 30 to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Ford made it clear that this was not a provincial shutdown. He said grocery stores, convenience stores, pharmacies, manufacturing facilities, public transit, important public services, construction sites, office buildings will all continue to operate.
38:30 The premier also announced a $300-million relief package to aid in providing more critical care beds and more COVID-19 response centres.
Ford was joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Rod Phillips, Minister of Finance, and Solicitor General Sylvia Jones at Queen's Park to make the announcement.
