While Totten and his group of volunteers are busy churning out thousands of fabric face masks to donate to medical personnel, the CDC has just released guidelines for all Americans to wear fabric face masks when social distancing is not always possible.

Tim shares 4 easy face mask designs you can make with items in your home or from the dollar store. Every item used was sourced at Dollar Tree, a discount store in the U.S.A.
FIRST MASK: Made from paper towels and rubber bands, this last minute mask is for those times you HAVE to wear a mask and all you have are paper towels and rubber bands.
SECOND MASK: Utilizing any large fabric scarf, wrap it around your head. Believe it or not, this is one of the suggestions in CDC guidelines when other masks are not available and it's effective. Besides, you can also color coordinate if you have enough scarves!
THIRD MASK: Utilizing a basic kitchen towel (or tea towel) and two hair ties, this mask gives 6 layers of fabric protection and is comfortable to wear. If you plan to wear this type of mask regularly, consider adding a few hand stitches with a needle and thread rather than simply folding the material into itself.
FOURTH MASK: If you want your t-shirt fabric mask to last longer, consider pulling out the needle and thread and doing a few simple hand stitches in place of the staples. You can also cut the long strip in half and attach each strap to a side so that you have a more traditional mask.
