In the initial stage, ovarian cancer is limited to the ovaries. Progressing to stage 2, the disease extends beyond the ovaries but remains localized within the pelvic area.
Stage 3 indicates the further spread of cancer to the uterus, rectum, and pelvic peritoneum, extending beyond the confines of the ovaries. Stage 3 is subdivided into 3A, involving the spread to lymph nodes and microscopic peritoneal disease; 3B, characterized by visible tumor nodules less than 2cm in the peritoneum; and 3C, marked by nodule sizes exceeding 2cm in the peritoneum.
Moving to stage 4, 4A signifies the spread to the lining of the chest and lung cavities, while stage 4B involves the spread to other organs.
