THE FOUR SEASONS SONNETS
SPRING
1.
Spring has arrived
and the birds celebrate with festive song.
Meanwhile gentle murmuring streams are softly
caressed by the breezes:
Lightning and thunder, those heralds of spring,
arrive to cover the air with a black cloak;
Then they die away to silence,
and the birds take up their charming songs again.
2.
On the flower strewn meadow,
with the murmur of leaves and plants,
the goatherd sleeps with his faithful dog beside him.
3.
Led by the festive sound of rustic bagpipes,
nymphs and shepherds dance
beneath the brilliant appearance of spring.
