Riding the ultimate bike park and broken bikes - I go on a sick MTB freeride mini road trip and ride some epic trails and dirt jumps. I also broke two bikes and had a surf before lockdown 2.0! Which part was your favourite?
With the 2nd UK lockdown looming I decided to get out on the road for a mini road trip and meet up with Tom Isted and shred some bike parks. To start off the fun I headed to windhill bike park which is situated amongst the rolling hills of longleat safari park, you can actually hear lions roaring occasionally! This is probably my favorite bike park and has a huge variety of MTB trails that suit beginners right the way up to pro riders who want to hit huge jumps. I started off the session on my new Haibike e-bike but after a crash and a mechanical failure I decided to switch to the old bike and continue the fun. In the middle of our session Chris Smith from EMBN decided to turn up and have a quick ride on his lunch break. With a huge amount of riding having taken place we decided to call it a day and head further down the UK into Devon where we popped into Gawton Gravity Hub before breaking another bike and ending the session after only one run.... Luckily Tom Isted knew of a fun spot just 5 minutes away and it turned out to be a dirt jump paradise so we got to work at shredding and hitting the fun lines around this mini jump park. After all the action was done and the evening was rolling in I then left Tom and headed to Saunton Sands beach to get in a quick surf before lockdown with some of the best weather conditions ever, what a trip!
