Same idea as the pulldown version of this mistake I posted a few days back, but it's just as common to see on pull ups as well during back workouts. This usually happens on this back exercise in novices who lack the overall strength to perform proper body weight pull ups (in which case you can use bands or an assisted pull up machine to lighten the load), or in those who do have the strength but are trying to add too much extra weight to quickly. To compensate the upper back will round forward with the chest and shoulders collapsing in. This disengages the targeted back musculature and puts more stress on the shoulders as well. If you want to build back muscle as effectively as possible then keep your chest up throughout your pull ups.
