In April 2019 I left Belgium and started a big motorcycle adventure around the world. My plan is: take no highways, ride off-road when possible, wild camp and stay with the locals as much as you can and try to rock climb in every country.

TAJIKISTAN

If you like big mountains, steep valleys wild rivers with awesome off road tracks, remote mountain villages and glacial lakes, then Tajikistan should be definitely on your bucket list!

The whole country is full of +7000 meter mountains, icy cold glacial lakes, dusty but very spectacular dirt tracks and off course PAMIR HIGHWAY. The second highest "highway" in the world and absolutely surreal to experience. Not your convenient highway with 4 lanes, mid section and superb bitumen but more likely mud slide affected, put hole infested, river crossed, gravel-dirt-off-road-track. Absolutely crazy that big trucks drive there daily.

Wondering what the Anzob tunnel or Tunnel of Death is? It is 5 kilometer of dark, dusty puthole-dodging tunnel mayhem.

Further along the Pamir highway I'm riding on the border with Afghanistan and Tajikistan, avoiding land mines and picking up AK47 gun shells like they are shells on the beach.
