When you import a file into Access table or export data from a table you can save the settings used for import or export operation. A specification contains all the information Access needs to repeat the operation without you having to provide any input. For example, a specification that imports data from an excel workbook contains the name of source excel file, whether you appended data to an existing table or imported to a new table, primary key information and field names.
