This Poetry Festival was created and sponsored by Dr. Kathleen P. Decker and co-sponsored by The Poetry Society of Virginia. Six Featured Readers read for 15-20 minutes each. This playlist contains highlights of their reading, as well as one poem from each of the poets who read in the Open Mic section.
Joanna Lee is a current Vice President of the Poetry Society of Virginia, Central Region. She has been active in the Richmond, Virginia area poetry scene for years. Here she reads "Hooves Flying Ever Between" from the Chapbook "No Tomb of His Own: Legacies of the Hollywood Buck" (Dustin King and Elena Malkov, Editors). She also read "First Blush, Last Light" from "Writing the Land: Virginia" (NatureCulture 2024, edited by Lis McLoughlin, Ph.D.). She was a Featured Reader at the Summer Poetry Festival in Richmond, Virginia on 6/29/2024.
