Kevin Costner Opens Up About ‘Crushing Moment’ Following His Divorce With Christine Baumgartner, Deets
The actor Kevin Costner, who starred in Yellowstone, is talking candidly about his divorce from Christine Baumgartner. Before Baumgartner filed for divorce in May 2023, the former couple was wed for eighteen years.
It's a heartbreaking moment, Costner acknowledged in an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings. It has strength. When asked how he's doing since the divorce, he said, "It hurt." He went on, "But I move forward." My kids are staring at me, so I'm at a loss for what to do. I must thus move on; I cannot wither away like a daisy. I have to stay true to who I am and pay close attention to who they are.
Baumgartner and Costner wed in 2004 and divorced in 2023. Grace, Hayes, and Cayden are their three children together. After Baumgartner's attorneys filed court filings asking a Santa Barbara, California, court to release both parties from completing a required co-parenting course, the former couple's marriage was formally dissolved in February 2024.
In September 2023, the Oscar winner and his ex-wife finalized their divorce and decided to maintain shared custody of their kids. The two "have come to an amicable and mutually agreed upon resolution of all issues pertaining to their divorce proceedings," an agent for the actor told People at the time.
Costner recently said to the publication, "You just do it." You just never stop talking, mentoring, and showing an interest in the things that interest the children. I have to," he said, analyzing his approach to the split.
In spite of the challenging circumstances, Costner acknowledged that he's willing to find love once more. Indeed, I believe that everyone aspires to be in love, he replied. That just seems like such a positive vibe. It might need to be defined differently. However, I adore the notion of that being a possibility.
Currently showing in theaters is Costner's latest film, Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1.
