Hi guys, thought I'd share with you our accommodation experience at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
This is the reality of the fan villages in Doha, Qatar. For $200 USD per night, I wasn't able to check in until 8pm due to an oversubscription of the portacabins, found a flooded bathroom floor covered in dirty tissues and a nail lying in the sink and also on the floor. The room facilities were incomplete (no mugs, no water ... but a kettle was present). There is a 2 night minimum stay.
Pros are however, that it's close to the airport and has a large screen TV to watch the World Cup games. There is a buggy on site to take you to your cabin if it's one of the furthest away. It's also the cheapest accommodation on offer at the FIFA World Cup 2022.
We later moved on to the Al Khor Camp which was much more remotely located but definitely more comfortable with an organised check-in process. Hope you find somewhere that suits! Pack plenty of patience if you plan to stay at the Free Zone Fan Village!
