"Scheherezade was my reimagining of that project, allowing me to further develop existing ideas within a similar concept. The idea was to reinterpret a still image - a painting - bringing it to life for a modern purpose. In this instance, an interpretation of the series of paintings entitled Scheherezade by René Magritte.The script for the dialogue played over the video is an adaptation, based on excerpts from the novel Nadja by the surrealist writer André Breton. The project is centred around themes of surrealism, questioning what is real and what is not, as well approaching the tropes and traits of dreams and the unconscious, presented within the illogical scenes of Magritte's works."
