We made the bedroom ceiling in our hundred-year-old farmhouse 11 feet tall! (Yikes.) So we need a way to make it feel more cozy. Attaching faux (French for "fake") beams to the ceiling seemed like the thing to do.
But the faux beams we found were either too expensive or a little too fake. So we ended up creating faux wood rafters using relatively inexpensive 2 X 6 boards. (About $17 each at the time.) And then we just brainstormed on a way to firmly attach them to the ceiling. (You don't want a board falling on you in the middle of the night.)
This is a quick rundown of every step. Let us know what you think.
