Green peas, cauliflower cooked with masalas and gram flour
MATAR GOBHI MASTI
Ingredients
1½ cups frozen green peas
2 cups small florets of cauliflower
2 tbsps ghee
A pinch of asafoetida
½ tsp cumin seeds
¼ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1 inch ginger, cut into thin strips
2 tsps gram flour (besan)
¾ tsp coriander powder
½ tsp freshly crushed black peppercorns
Method
1. Heat ghee in a non-stick wok, add and cumin seeds and saute. When the seeds begin to change colour, add cauliflower florets, turmeric powder and salt and mix well.
2. Sprinkle a little water, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
3. Add green peas and mix. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
4. Add ginger strips, gram flour and coriander powder and mix well. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
5. Add crushed black peppercorns and mix. Cover and cook till done.
6. Serve hot.
