Unearthing the Secrets of Ayutthaya: Exploring the Enigmatic Ancient Temples of Thailand | UNESCO
Hi everyone! Today I want to share with you my experience in Ayutthaya, a city in Thailand that definitely should be on your list of places to visit. And on this occasion, I'll also give you some useful tips so you can visit it on your own.
To get to Ayutthaya from Bangkok, you can take a train from Hua Lamphong train station. Trains leave regularly and the journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. The cost of the ticket is quite cheap, around 1 to 2 British pounds depending on the class you choose.
Once in Ayutthaya, I recommend renting a bike to get around the city. This will allow you to explore the city at your own pace and visit all the points of interest without having to rely on public transportation. Bike rentals cost approximately 1 to 2 British pounds per day.
As for the places you can't miss in Ayutthaya, I suggest you visit the Wat Mahathat temple, famous for the Buddha head embedded in the roots of a tree. I also recommend visiting the Wat Chaiwatthanaram temple, one of the largest and best preserved in Ayutthaya, located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River.
Regarding food, I recommend trying some of the local dishes in the street food market. Some of the most popular dishes are Pad Thai and Tom Yum Goong, which you can find for a very economical price, around 1 to 2 British pounds per dish.
Finally, to enter the temples of Ayutthaya, you will need to purchase a ticket that costs around 1 to 2 British pounds per temple. It's important to keep in mind that the temples can close early, so I suggest you visit the most important ones first to ensure you can visit them all during your stay.
In summary, Ayutthaya is an incredibly beautiful city full of history and culture. It's easy and inexpensive to get there from Bangkok by train, and once there, bike rental will allow you to explore the city at your own pace. Don't miss the Wat Mahathat and Wat Chaiwatthanaram temples, and enjoy the delicious local food in the street markets. Remember to buy the temple tickets and visit the most important ones first so you don't miss the opportunity to see them. Enjoy your trip to Ayutthaya!
