6 Google Home Features Few People Know and Use

Google Home, Google Home Mini, and Google Home Max now have over 1 million actions as well as hundreds of features. That's amazing, and the Google Home is becoming an excellent smart home product as a result. What happens with this much functionality is that some people lose the ability to find and use all of the features. As a result, I wanted to take you through 6 features for the Google Home that few people use, and I think are useful (or fun).

The first feature I love for the Google Home is Night Mode. Night Mode allows you to turn down the sound level and the lighting level on your Google Home. It doesn't stop alarms or timers, but it does allow you to set time and days of the week that this is enabled.

Next up is confirmation sounds on the Google Home. What's great about confirmation sounds is in a bit of a busy room, you'll get confirmation that your Google Home has heard and will respond. I use the start sound on my main Google Home in my home automation system.

The iOS widget for the Google Home is a great new feature that lets you control your Google Home, Google Chromecasts, and other cast related devices. You can start and stop music, videos, and more from the Google Home iOS widget.

Even if you're the loneliest person in the world, the Google Home will sing you Happy Birthday on your birthday. All you have to do is have your birthday in your Google Account through Home or Calendar and then ask Google Home about your day on your birthday.

Announced as part of Google I/O 2018 is 6 new Voice Assistants. There are more voices coming, as even people like John Legend are going to lend their voices to the folks at Google. Amazing stuff. You can check those new voices out on the Google Home app today.

Google Home broadcasts messages throughout your home (or at least to your other Google Home or Google Home Mini devices). This functionality is great for putting messages out there to your family at any time.
