Cab view from a NBR Holmes "C" Class 0-6-0 tender locomotive arriving with the afternoon Thursdays only Wansbeck branch passenger train from Scots Gap to Reedsmouth Junction. The branch was locally nicknamed "the Wanny". Military traffic to Armstrong's range nearby and for the army camp at Otterburn (nearest station West Woodburn) boosted traffic on the line, which traversed a very thinly populated district. On most days a single Brake Third carriage filled the demand for passenger traffic.
