Even a Silverback gorilla can slip up. So much so that he does the splits. Oumbi the silverback western lowland gorilla from Twycross Zoo in England is getting more active. As the leader of the gorilla family, he keeps his family in check by overlooking all the activities of the entire group. Mostly calm, he has got his moments like today when he keeps beating his chest and even gives his chosen mate Ozala a little push while casually walking past. Shufai his son is giving mum a quick hug afterwards and you almost think he follows Oumbi to have a word. Oumbi is having one of his moments again when Lope the older sibling, mum Ozala with Shufai on her back are grazing. He charges down the slope. Lope and Ozala get out of his way straight away. Unfortunately it doesn’t really go Oumbis way, as he is a bit too fast and slides down the rest of the slope doing the splits. Trying not to lose face, he acts normal afterwards with Ozala stealing a quick look at him as if to say, what was that all about? But then she quickly looks away, still being wary of him while he walks past.
