Johnny's obviously very proud of this performance, as well he should be. It's such an accomplishment to make something so intensely beautiful & emotional with all the constraints placed on him by the show. I knew it was groundbreaking for American TV, but I don't think I appreciated how much until I watched the two skating shows Christmas weekend. They were fun and there was some beautiful skating, but very little that actually spoke to the soul like this did.
