In October 2010, Haiti suffered a cholera epidemic, killing hundreds including children. UNICEF launched a social mobilisation to spread the word about how to prevent the spread of cholera. UNICEF has also played a key role in treating the infected, setting up emergency centres and providing life-saving oral re-hydration treatment.
