On a recent ninety-degree August day, the New York Model Management team took trains, bikes and Uber’s across the east river to shoot a secret project deep in Long Island City. Flying in especially for the shoot, several models came directly from the airport to the pampering hands of a hair, makeup and styling that would transport them backstage minutes before a runway show in our new film.
S/S 17 takes you behind the scenes of a fashion show a mere fifteen minutes before the first look hits the runway. Premiering in time for pre-casting season here in NYC, the film features the top talent of our agency’s women’s division and also includes a cameo from the iconic Niki Taylor who opens the “show” wearing a glittering BALENCIAGA jacket.
“We wanted the film to be an exciting, but fun way to bring this year’s show package to life,” said Cory Bautista, our agency Director. “The film opens with Sarah Brannon, Ana Christina and one of our newest finds, Jazzelle, in a street look, walking to work. We get to see their transformation at the hands of, ironically, our male models,” he said with a smile.
While highlighting the stable of top women, the film also cast New York Models men’s division in the roles of security, producer and hair and makeup prepping the girls for the show.
Director Bell Soto added, “I love the composition of chaos you see backstage, everyone works so quickly in symphony, but there are always these little moments of magic too. We wanted to show the chaos and excitement, but also the beauty and elegance of how the models bring the fashion to life.”
