On the whole Ride The Lightning album there are great harmonies and the song Fade To Black has some great examples. These can be recreated with the Boss PS-6 Harmonist. This pitch shifter pedal can both do pitch shifting in fixed intervals (in the Pitch Shifter, Super Bend and Detune Mode) and variable intervals based on the key you're playing in (Minor and Major Mode).
Number 1 is the interlude solo between the first chorus and second verse. This one is harmonized in 5 semitones or a perfect fourth interval, so the PS-6 is set to -5 in the Pitch Shifter mode.
Number 2 is the harmonised bridge riff, the part where James doesn't sing. This riff varies between a minor 3rd and a major 3rd. Since the song is in B minor, the PS-6 is set to a 3rd below in B minor.
Number 3 is the rhythm riff in the solo part of the song. This riff starts of with a 3rd interval, than one note in unison (so the PS-6 is switched off), back to the 3rd and it ends in 5ths, so the PS-6 is set to shift a 3rd + 5th up in B minor. I switch between these intervals with the Boss LS-2 Line Selector.
