Are supplements effective at lowering thyroid antibodies? Sometimes! It depends on the person and their nutrient status but here are some that have been proven to be effective both from the perspective of research studies and from patient anecdotes. 1. Selenium - Selenium has been shown to help reduce thyroid antibodies likely through its impact on glutathione production. 2. Nigella sativa or black seed oil - The active ingredients in black seed oil have been shown to have both a pro-thyroid effect as well as a thyroid antibody-lowering effect. 3. Vitamin D3 - Supplementing with vitamin D3 has been shown to reduce thyroid antibodies in some studies. Based on my experience, patients with deficiencies in these nutrients tend to see the most benefit but they are usually worth a try because they are cheap and potentially effective ways to manage thyroid antibodies. #hashimotos #thyroid #thyroidantibodies #thyroidperoxidase #thyroglobulin
