Chair of the British Medical Association (BMA) Dr Philip Banfield spoke to Sky's Sophy Ridge on Sunday programme, after union bosses warned more nurses strikes would be announced.

Dr Banfield said that doctors and nurses do not want to go on strike and "feel like they are being backed into it".

He added: "Doctors are not the problem they are the solution. You need us as experts to deal with the problems of the NHS. We are not averse to change."
