"Huntsville Hospital was planning an institution-wide upgrade to Philips IntelliVue MX40 patient monitors and IntelliVue Information Center iX (PIIC iX). In order to take full advantage of the new technology, Huntsville Hospital wanted to conduct a current-state assessment and partnered with Philips to evaluate the central monitoring unit (CMU) and telemetry monitoring and alarm management practices to determine the impact of current telemetry utilization on throughput and identify performance improvement opportunities. This session covers key findings and selected improvement opportunities focused on enhancing patient care and safety, reducing workload and nonactionable alarms, and supporting throughput by better utilizing telemetry.
