On July 3, 2024, Japan introduced new banknotes in denominations of 10,000 yen, 5,000 yen, and 1,000 yen. These redesigned banknotes incorporate anti-counterfeit technologies. The 10,000 yen note features Eiichi Shibusawa, a pioneer in modern Japanese society. Umeko Tsuda, an educator dedicated to improving women’s status and education, graces the 5,000 yen note. Lastly, the 1,000 yen note honors Shibasaburō Kitasato, a microbiologist known as the “father of modern Japanese medicine” for his work on tetanus prevention and treatment. 🇯🇵💴
