Footage of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu at a rally in which he declared his support for the ruling National Party of Nigeria (NPN).
It was 13 years after the end of the Nigerian Civil War.
On May 30, 1967, Ojukwu, who had been the military governor of the Eastern Region of Nigeria, declared the region's secession and proclaimed the sovereign state of Biafra.
The former Lieutenant Colonel of the Nigerian Army became the Head of State of Biafra and was at the helm of prosecuting the war against Federal Nigeria from July 1967 to January 1970.
Prior to the collapse of Biafra, he fled to exile in the Ivory Coast.
Ojukwu returned to Nigeria on June 18th 1982 after been granted a pardon by the civilian administration of President Shehu Shagari.
