Tucked away on the edge of St. Petersburg between the island village of Tiera Verde and Ft. Desoto Park is Shell Key Preserve. It is a popular area for kayakers and paddleboarders. The preserve is mostly shallow, with some areas becoming dry at low tide. Internal combustion motors are prohibited in a majority of the area. Once you navigate westward from the kayak launch and around mangrove islands, you will find one of the best beaches on Florida's Gulf Coast. If you have never been here I highly recommend you visit it one day. 🏝️
