Probably the first time in the history of commercial shellfish in South Carolina that a drone has been used to take aerial video of the operation in process of shell planting, as well as assessing the planting areas afterwards.
We FINALLY got the pontoon barge set up right, my 50HP Merc with a 4 blade prop was just what it needed. Also, added (2) 48"x72"x16" dock floats underneath the barge, rated at 1900 lbs of buoyancy per float, for a total of 3,800 lbs, as well as the 1200 lb capacity of the pontoons, for a grand total of 5,000 lb capacity. We were doubling that at 250 bushels per load, 40 lbs per bushel, for a total weight of 10,000 lbs. And still floating along pretty good! Even in shallow water. We made one run through about 2 ft of water with that heavy load, never touched bottom.
