The firm’s new XF530, 3.95m wheelbase 6x2 pusher axle tractor unit features a TraXon gearbox 12-speed gearbox. Ross rates this transmission highly and reports, “The AS-Tronic ‘box on our XF510 always needs manual input to keep a fully loaded float on the boil over hilly terrain. With the TraXon I’ve never touched the gearshift paddle yet. It is literally that good.
The increase in power up to 530hp is also noticeable over the previous model and I’d say its sufficient for our needs.” In addition to a full LED lighting package, Ross opted for a Jost cast fifth wheel and additional electrics to charge the trailer components. The Super Space Cab’s cavernous interior and comfort levels prove ideal for this tall driver who also specified Argenta interior decoration, full leather and a microwave oven.
